Closer to home, you can visit one of the one recent additions to the local attractions, Kilfane Glen & waterfall. It’s just 5km from Kilbawn B&B on the road to Thomastown and is a wonderful example of an 18th century garden.
It lay untouched for over 200 years until Susan and Nicholas Mosse discovered the romantic garden shortly after their arrival to Kilfane and as part of its renovation you can still see the planting arrangements and plans as they would have been in the 1790’s, including fox-gloves and ferns.
|

|
It has been listed as a Heritage garden since 1993.
In addition to the gardens, the Kilfane Trust was set up to nurture and encourage new Artists. Proposals are submitted and those selected create their art in Kilfane.
Please note, Kilfane glen is only open to the public for the months of July and August.

Nicholas also runs another local success story, the excellent Nicholas Mosse Pottery studio in Bennettsbridge. Established in 1976, each piece of occasional pottery is beautifully hand crafted and hand painted, while very functional for everyday use.

A visit to the old mill-house on the side of the river Nore, which doubles as the studio shop. Nicholas Mosse Pottery is only a 10 minute drive from our Bed and Breakfast, so try to take it in while you’re staying with us.
The more observant of you will notice a number of Mosse pieces in daily use around the breakfast room!
Please visit www.nicholasmosse.com to see the whole range.
